LATEST ON INVESTMENTS
We've raised enough to purchase the shop, and opened on 29th November 2022. Many more details of what has been happening can be found on our news page and in our newsletters. We are very grateful to all those who responded to the re-opening of the share offer to make that possible.
Don't forget - you can still invest. Although the shop has now been purchased, it is still possible to purchase shares and become part of this exciting venture. Your share holding will help us to upgrade the shop and adapt further to community requirements. This will assist improve the shop to its full potential and ensure the business is a success. We aim to continue to maintain and improve it as a successful trading post serving both the local community and visitors to the area. So you can still become a full member of the society and participate.

Our share offer has been re-opened (from 20th October 2022) in order to close the gap we need to fill. Our hopes of getting a grant to complete the purchase have been dashed by the delay in a decision on the Community Ownership Fund, caused, we presume, by the chaos in Westminster. The situation is described in more detail in our latest "Extraordinary Newsletter". Read it by clicking here. Shares are once again available in Newport’s SHGT Community Benefit Society (CBS) Limited and the funds raised will be used to purchase Havards for the Community.

NEW INVESTORS
The team have been putting banners up all over town.
The easiest way to invest is to complete our online investment form, available by clicking https://siophavards.cymru/investform.htm . Complete the details, and submit the form. You will then receive an email telling you how to transfer the funds. The form also allows you to invest on behalf of an organisation or business, and you can also invest of a child under the age of 16. You can also invest by completing and sending us a paper form - forms are available from Havards shop.
Donations: We also welcome donations. If you are able to make a donation to help the Community purchase Havards, you can find out more by clicking here.
Share Save investments: You can also build up your membership of Havards Community Benefit Society with smaller payments over time, if this suits you. Once you have saved £200 you will become a voting member of the society. Please see our form which allows you to join the Share Save Scheme.
This project will benefit the Community of Newport and surrounding villages, and we have had extensive support from a diverse range of those that both live here or visit frequently.
Limits: The minimum share purchase is 200 shares at £1 each. Individuals or company can hold up to 10% of the minimum share target total, currently 415,000.
Note for taxpayers: While our application for Advance Assurance for the HMRC Social Investment Tax Relief (SITR) scheme has been approved, we have now passed our allowance for SITR which was £300,000. Investors should have been told if their investment was eligible for SITR. Unfortunately we cannot offer SITR on new or increased investments. HMRC are happy that we meet the criteria for SITR and we will apply for full certified SITR status 4 months after we start trading. Those those investors who invested before we reached our limit should have the benefit of SITR tax reduction. This is a reduction of 30% of your investment in your income tax bill. More details here.
Increasing your investment: We've had several investors who have told us they want to increase their investment and asking how to do it. It's easy. Just make an additional payment quoting the same member number (you will already have the bank details and this number). We will consolidate the two payments into a single investor record, so you will only receive one certificate for the total investment. This applies only if all details are the same (for example, no change in the interest rate requested.)
